Pen & Muse Studio

The room where our books are made.

Every work in this catalogue was drafted, edited, and prepared in the Studio — the press's own writing environment. Membership seats you at the same desk: draft with a route instead of a blank page, keep a world alive as you write, and walk out with a finished edition.

One House

Pen & Muse is a press. The store, the living editions, and the Studio are rooms of the same house — and they feed each other by design.

You can live your whole life here as a reader. But if you write, the door to the workshop is open, and it leads back to these shelves.

The Loop

One house, four rooms — and a door between each.

01

Read

Everyone arrives as a reader. Sample the catalogue, follow the dispatches, and when a book earns a place on your shelf, own it — the download, the reader, the margins, forever.

02

Enter

Some works bear the enterable mark: living editions you can step inside, where the story answers your presence and no two readings are the same. The mark is editorial — it means something because not every book carries it.

03

Make

Behind the shelves is the desk. Pen & Muse Studio is the environment the house catalogue is drafted, edited, and prepared in — and membership seats you at it, with the same instruments our own works are made with.

What the desk holds

04

Publish

Work made in the Studio arrives at the gate already carrying its structure, so the path from manuscript to published edition is unusually short. The gate is one gate: a real reading, a real answer, and nothing published without your approval.

How the gate works

The Desk

What sits on it.

These are not add-ons bolted to a text box. They are the instruments the house itself writes with, built into one desk.

Drafting with a route

Plan the book before you write it — framework, chapters, throughlines — then draft against the plan instead of a blank page. The desk keeps the route visible while you work.

A world that stays alive

Characters, places, and the laws of your story are remembered as you write. Continuity is checked against what the book has already promised, chapter after chapter.

An editor at your elbow

Ask for a reading and get a real one — structural notes, margin notes, revision proposals. Nothing changes your manuscript unless you approve it; the pen stays yours.

Clean editions out the door

Manuscripts sync to your account as you work, and leave the desk as finished editions — clean EPUB and PDF, ready for the world, wherever you take them.

Membership

A seat at the desk.

Studio membership is £24.99 a month, and it carries the full Immersion reader membership with it. Drafting and editing at the desk are included without measure; a monthly well of 5,000 ink covers the abundant things — imagery and film that ask more of the house. Your manuscripts remain yours, synced to your account, exportable at any time.

From the Desk to the Shelf

The workshop leads back to the catalogue.

Pen & Muse is selective, and says so plainly. Writing in the Studio does not buy a place on these shelves — it earns your work a shorter road to the same gate every submission walks through: a real reading, a real answer, and if the answer is yes, an edition prepared with care under an imprint whose name is meant to mean something.

On money: we are building the economics of this press around a simple conviction — the author's share should be the generous one. We won't publish numbers until they are settled and true; selected authors see the full terms, in writing, before anything is signed.
