This policy explains how Pen & Muse handles personal information across the bookstore, library and Studio, including the optional Google Docs manuscript import.
We collect account and transaction information needed to provide the service, such as your email address, library records and purchase history. Payments are processed by Stripe; Pen & Muse does not store your full card details.
We use this information to authenticate your account, provide purchases and downloads, operate Studio features, maintain security, respond to support requests and send service messages such as receipts or critical file updates.
If you choose Import from Google Docs, Pen & Muse asks Google for permission to access only the document you deliberately select. The app uses Google's drive.file permission; it does not browse or read the rest of your Google Drive.
The selected Google Doc is exported as a DOCX file and processed in your browser to create an import preview and, only after you confirm, a separate Studio draft. Its text, document name, Google document identifier, revision information and source link may be retained with the local import receipt so that you can identify or re-import the same source. Google access tokens are used for the active selection and export flow and are not stored by Pen & Muse.
Google user data obtained through this import is used only to provide the user-facing import feature. It is not sold, used for advertising, or used to train general-purpose AI models. Pen & Muse does not transfer it to third parties except service providers necessary to operate the feature, where permitted by Google's API Services User Data Policy. Importing a document does not itself send its prose to an AI provider.
Studio keeps the imported source and receipt on your device unless you separately choose a feature that clearly says it will back up or transmit project data. You can remove an imported source or delete its draft from Studio. You can also revoke Pen & Muse's Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions.
